What is Iranian Visa Reference Number?
In order to apply and obtain your visa you must contact an approved Iranian travel agency. Once the agency receives your personal data, they apply to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). Upon approval, A Visa Reference Number will be issued and authorized by the MFA and faxed to the Iranian Consulate where you intend to collect your Iranian visa. Your travel agent will then give you a Visa Reference Number (authorization code) which you can refer to the consulate to get your visa to Iran.
Please note: the visa authorization number is valid only in the consulate you have asked for your visa to be issued in. The number they give you is just an "authorization code". This reference number means that your visa has been authorized and approved by the MFA but it is not the visa itself.
You can either go to the specified Iranian consulate and get your visa or have it posted to you. (Contact the consulate for more information)
A tourist visa is issued for a maximum stay of 30 days with option of an Extension in Iran. The visa remains valid for a period of 3 months from the date of issue.
